A beautiful 1950s blue cocktail dress with its matching bolero, bearing the Miss London by London Town, Made in Mayfair label.
The richly lustrous fabric catches the light in shades of deep navy and bright blue, highlighting the fitted bodice and generously gathered skirt. The dress has narrow shoulder straps and a straight neckline, while the cropped bolero adds a dramatic broad collar and bow detail at the waist. Worn together, they create a wonderfully elegant silhouette; worn separately, the dress reveals a simpler evening look.
An accompanying handwritten provenance tag describes the fabric as pure silk and records that the dress was worn by Mrs Ella Taylor at the Queen’s College, Oxford Commemoration Ball around 1960, and subsequently by Mrs Frideswide Curry at a college dance in 1967. These details are supplied as recorded family provenance and have not yet been independently verified.
