Vintage 1960s Mary Fair Blue Silk Column Dress XS Baker Street London Evening Gown

An exquisite original 1960s blue silk column dress by Mary Fair of 18 Baker Street, London.

Cut in a beautifully elegant, elongated silhouette, the dress has a softly draped neckline that creates graceful folds across the front. The fitted body follows a clean column shape, with subtle shaping through the waist and hips before falling to a long, straight skirt.

Slender bracelet-length sleeves add to its sophisticated simplicity, while the rich blue silk has a lightly textured finish and a beautiful natural sheen. The dress is fully lined in contrasting purple and fastens at the back with its original metal zip.

Mary Fair operated a fashionable dress shop on Baker Street during the 1960s. The boutique’s fashionable clientele included singer Helen Shapiro, who was photographed trying on clothes at the Mary Fair shop in 1961. Memory Lane Prints⁠
