A fabulous extra-long vintage glass bead necklace in a striking sequence of pillar-box red, crisp white and rich cobalt blue.

Believed to date from approximately the 1930s to 1940s, the necklace is formed from dozens of smooth, rounded rectangular beads arranged in a wonderfully graphic repeating pattern. The beads appear to be opaque glass rather than plastic and have the satisfying weight and lustrous finish associated with early Czech-style costume jewellery.

Its exceptional length makes it wonderfully versatile: wear it as one dramatic flapper-length strand, double it around the neck or experiment with layered and knotted styling.
The bold tricolour palette gives it an unmistakably patriotic character and could represent British, French or American colours—although its original meaning is unknown.

Condition:

This necklace is in good wearable vintage condition with signs of age and previous use.
The beads have occasional light surface marks, tiny nibbles and slight variations in shape and colour. The brass screw fastening has developed an authentic aged patina but continues to close securely.
Some of the original stringing is visible beside the clasp and shows minor age-related wear. The necklace currently feels secure, but as with all vintage strung jewellery, it should be handled and stored with care.
