A fabulous original 1960s little black dress by California, combining a beautifully fitted cocktail silhouette with a wonderfully dramatic tiered-lace bodice.

The sleeveless bodice is completely covered with rows of delicate black lace ruffles, which continue over the wide shoulder straps and around the softly scooped neckline. Beneath the textured bodice, the dress draws neatly into a wonderfully tiny, defined waist before falling into a straight fitted skirt.

The contrast between the frothy, feminine lace and the understated black skirt gives the dress a sophisticated early-1960s cocktail look. Elegant but playful, it has just enough drama to make it stand out while remaining an effortlessly wearable little black dress.

The original California label remains present and reads “Designs 32 to 36 – 34 – Dry Cleaned.” Although inspired by Californian fashion, the label states that the dress was made in England.
