1920s 1930s Equestrian Jodhpurs with Suede Knee Patches – High Waist Button Fly
Description
A wonderful original pair of vintage equestrian riding breeches, believed to date from approximately the 1920s–1930s.
Made in a warm taupe-brown fabric, these have the unmistakable traditional riding silhouette: a high fitted waist, dramatically shaped and generously cut thighs, narrowing below the knee into fitted lower legs.
The breeches retain their contrasting suede/leather knee reinforcements, showing genuine wear consistent with their original use. The lower legs fasten through rows of metal eyelets with ties, while the front has a traditional button fly rather than a zip.
Particularly lovely construction details include the angled hip pockets, shaped leg seams and striped cotton facing visible inside the waistband/fly.
There is no surviving maker's label, making precise dating difficult, but the construction, materials and styling are consistent with early-to-mid 20th-century traditional riding wear.
A fabulous piece of British equestrian clothing with enormous character — equally suited to a vintage menswear collection, equestrian archive, period costume, theatrical wardrobe or display.
