1920s 1930s Vintage Riding Breeches Brown Wool Equestrian Jodhpurs Leather Knee Patches
Description
A superb pair of original early 20th-century riding breeches, dating approximately to the 1920s–1930s.
These are a wonderful example of traditional British equestrian tailoring, cut with the dramatically full thighs and closely fitted lower legs characteristic of riding breeches of the period.
Made in a substantial brown / taupe twill cloth, they feature large contrasting buff suede or leather reinforcement patches to the inner knees, a high structured waistband and button fly.
The lower legs are particularly fabulous, with multiple metal eyelets and lacing points designed to draw the breeches closely around the calf, together with extended button-fastening ankle sections.
Inside, the waistband and fly are extensively faced in cream cotton, with wonderfully utilitarian period construction visible throughout.
An increasingly difficult piece of original interwar equestrian clothing to find and a fantastic addition to a vintage menswear, country clothing or historical costume collection.

Condition
Good antique vintage condition with signs of age and previous wear consistent with their considerable age.
There is age-related marking and discolouration to the cream internal cotton facings and some marking / patination to the suede or leather knee patches. There may be minor marks, wear and historic repairs associated with use as an equestrian garment.
