DESCRIPTION
An exceptional original 1920s Art Deco sautoir necklace featuring turquoise-blue Czech glass beads individually linked with aged brass-tone wire.
This wonderfully elaborate necklace combines numerous small opaque blue glass beads with larger handmade lampwork feature beads. The larger beads are decorated with beautiful swirling ribbons of chocolate brown, black, grey and occasional touches of yellow, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
The necklace has an unusual festooned design, with additional loops and clustered bead sections creating wonderful movement and visual interest. Its delicate wire-linked construction is particularly characteristic of Czech and Bohemian export jewellery produced during the Art Deco period.
With an impressive drop of approximately 27 inches, this is an exceptionally long flapper necklace designed to slip easily over the head. It can be worn at its full dramatic length or carefully doubled to create a shorter layered look.

CONDITION
Good antique condition overall for a necklace approximately 100 years old.
There is age-related darkening, tarnishing and oxidation to the metal wire links. The handmade glass beads display small surface marks, scratches, dark specks and manufacturing irregularities consistent with their age. Some of the wire links are slightly uneven, and there may have been historic adjustments or repairs during the necklace’s long life.
The necklace appears complete, but due to the age and delicacy of the individually linked construction, it should be handled and stored with care.
