1930s 1940s Vintage Womens/Mens Black Wool Trousers – High Waist Pleated Button Fly – Side Adjusters
Description
A superb pair of original vintage tailored trousers appeared to have been re-tailored for a a woman dating from approximately the 1930s–1940s.
Cut in classic black cloth, these have all the wonderful details associated with early-to-mid 20th century British men's tailoring: a high waist, generous forward pleats, wide straight legs, button fly and adjustable side straps at the waistband.
Inside, the waistband is beautifully finished with a cream cotton lining woven with pale blue/grey stripes, while the traditional button fastening and internal construction give a wonderful glimpse of the workmanship found in period tailoring.
The silhouette is particularly good. These are generously cut through the seat and thigh before falling into a wide, relatively straight leg – exactly the kind of shape sought after for authentic 1930s and 1940s styling.
There are belt loops in addition to the side adjusters, allowing them to be worn in several ways.
No maker or composition label is visible, but the fabric, construction and tailoring details are consistent with quality vintage men's wool or wool-rich formal trousers of the period.
An excellent pair for collectors of early menswear, period dressing, swing and jazz styling, theatre or film costume, or simply worn as beautifully cut contemporary trousers.

Good vintage condition overall for their considerable age.
