Immaculate Condition Bill Gibb Knitwear four piece knit set from one of my favourite designers Bill Gibb, I have pulled this set back today from two places so that the hard work has been done and reunited this set as one again.
Rare vintage Knit suit set by Bill Gibb for Homes & Gardens absolutely stunning
jacquard-knit in autumnal colours, flecked with metallic gold threads throughout.
Made from majority acrylic and metallic yarns this is great for people who don’t enjoy the feeling of wool against their skin it’s beautifully soft and hangs really beautifully. the cardigan contains 4% Wool
The set consists of a midi length skirt, camisole style top, cardigan and scarf.
The cardigan being in a contrasting but complimentary pattern and yarn with same colour and yarn type bands to the wrists and hem.
The cardigan is almost peplum in style, being nipped in at the waist, and it has puffed and padded blouson shoulders and a high neck.

This set has been noted as 1977, 1970s and 70s/80s, but the Aberdeen Museum have The Bill Gibb Collection in their archives and have precisely dated the set as 1981.
Without the cardigan I think I’d have been sucked into the 1970s dating, but the cardigan is definitely more early 80s styling than 70s in design so I’ll have to trust the Aberdeen museum archive on this one as they have it listed as for the 1982 spring summer collection, however Kerry Taylor has it listed as the late 70s.
The set is in excellent condition with very minor signs of wear.
Labelled as a 10-12, and definitely more like an 8-10 today but measurements are as follows.
