Large 1930s Celluloid Triple Flower Brooch Cream Daisy Floral Spray Art Deco Statement Jewellery
Description
A wonderfully dramatic vintage floral brooch, believed to date from the 1930s or 1940s.
This unusually large piece features three deeply moulded daisy-like flowers, each with a raised, textured centre. The flowers are arranged amongst an abundant spray of overlapping leaves, creating a wonderfully sculptural and three-dimensional design.
The warm cream colouring and lightweight moulded construction are characteristic of early celluloid costume jewellery. Its generous proportions make it a fabulous statement brooch and an appealing piece for collectors of early plastics.
The brooch is unmarked. The material and date are based on its appearance and construction and have not been scientifically verified.

Condition
Fair vintage condition with considerable age-related wear.
There are a number of chips, no breaks and missing tips to the petals and leaves, together with small cracks, splits and areas of surface wear on the reverse. The cream colouring has developed some uneven yellowing and discolouration, with scattered marks and ingrained dirt appropriate to its age.
Old adhesive or assembly residue is visible around some of the layered elements and on the reverse. A grey-blue mark is present on one of the leaves at the back. The metal safety-pin style fastening remains attached, although it may be a later replacement or adaptation.
The defects are only noticeable on close inspection but do not detract from the brooch’s wonderfully dramatic overall appearance. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
Due to the nature of early celluloid, the brooch should be kept away from heat, direct sunlight and moisture.
