Pair Vintage 1950s Diamanté Fur Dress Clips – Floral Rhinestone Double Prong Statement Jewellery

A spectacular matched pair of vintage dress or fur clips, believed to date from the later 1950s.
Each substantial silver-toned clip features a wonderfully elaborate scrolling design, heavily embellished with clear glass rhinestones. The sweeping openwork curves are finished with three-dimensional sprays of leaves, flowers and individually mounted stones, creating a dramatic and highly sculptural appearance.
Among the traditional clear stones are several carefully positioned aurora borealis rhinestones, which flash with subtle pink, blue and golden tones as they catch the light. This iridescent finish became fashionable during the second half of the 1950s and helps place the clips within that period.
Each piece retains its hinged double-pronged fitting. These sharp twin fittings were designed to grip substantial fabrics and allowed clips to be worn on a fur stole, coat, dress neckline, lapel, hat or evening bag. As a matching pair, they could be positioned symmetrically on either side of a neckline or worn separately.
A beautifully extravagant pair of genuine mid-century costume-jewellery clips with all the glamour of 1950s eveningwear.

Condition
Fair to good vintage condition with noticeable age-related wear.
The rhinestones have varying degrees of yellowing, clouding and darkening, creating a mellow champagne appearance overall. There are no stones appear to be missing, but 1 or two appear to have been historically replaced. There is also surface wear, tarnishing and discolouration to the silver-toned metal.
Both double-pronged fittings remain attached and in good action.
They have not been restored or cleaned aggressively and are offered with their original vintage patina. The remaining stones and overall construction should be checked carefully against the photographs.
Despite the losses, these remain an exceptionally decorative and increasingly difficult-to-find matched pair. They would also be excellent candidates for sympathetic restoration.
