Superb black velvet vintage maxi cape opera coat dating from the late 1920s by Peter Jones of Sloan Square.
Peter Jones joined in Partnership with John Lewis in 1929.
It has a tie front, with two ribbon fastenings with lovely circular deck details fastening with a ties on the front this is a full length cape with a short train to the back
The shoulder are slightly gathered in and the cape has wonderfully voluminous bishop sleeves which are lined giving a wonderful blouson effect. The sleeves are gathered from the yoke at the shoulder, then tapered to a narrow elastic cuff.
It has a black satin lining to the sleeves
With the tie at its tightest the measurements are as follows ,

Waist Up to 54” (held closed)
Free size hips
Length 58" from shoulder to hem. And 66” to train
There is a small tear at the shoulder as shown which could easily be repaired
It is on the left side of the shoulder, so not really visible when on. It could be quite easily repaired.
Otherwise in exceptionally good original condition.
