Description
A fabulous original vintage longline waistcoat in vivid royal blue textured nylon, complete with its original period Nylon by Monsanto label.
The wonderfully tactile fabric has a raised geometric texture and carries the original label stating “Contains Blue C Nylon”, reflecting the period when newly developed synthetic fibres were proudly promoted as a feature of fashionable clothing.
Cut in a long, sleeveless silhouette, the waistcoat has a deep V-shaped neckline and open front, both beautifully outlined with intricate silver metallic braid.
The combination of intense royal blue, textured nylon and metallic trim gives the piece a fantastic late-1960s feel, sitting somewhere between Mod, space-age and bohemian styling.
A particularly interesting survivor not only as a piece of vintage fashion but also as an example of the enthusiasm for new synthetic textiles during the period.
