A fascinating pair of vintage British khaki cotton drill shorts by UWIN, Made in England, retaining their original owner’s sewn-in name label for R. F. Carter Jonas.
These are a wonderfully evocative piece of mid-century British clothing with traditional construction including a button fly, pleated front, substantial cotton twill/drill cloth, belt loops, waistband fastening and rear patch pocket.
The waistband also retains a “Rigmel Shrunk” label.
Of particular interest is the original sewn-in R. F. CARTER JONAS name tape, giving this pair an unusual degree of personal provenance.
The utilitarian construction and styling are strongly reminiscent of British military, service and colonial-era clothing, although without an identifiable military issue stamp they are being sold as military-style rather than definitively issued uniform.

Condition
Authentic worn vintage condition.
There is substantial historic wear and fraying internally around the waistband and fly construction, as clearly photographed. There are also signs of age, wear and use throughout. The exterior remains very presentable considering the age.
These have deliberately not been restored; their wear forms part of their history and character.
