Vintage Gold Tone Padlock Drop Hoop Earrings – Chunky Hinged Hoops – 1980s/1990s Statement Jewellery
A fabulous pair of vintage gold-tone earrings featuring chunky hinged hoops finished with dangling miniature padlock charms.
The hoops have a substantial curved profile with a neat hinged fastening, while each padlock hangs freely beneath, giving the earrings lovely movement when worn. The simple geometric design has a distinctly luxe late-1980s to 1990s feel, reminiscent of the bold gold accessories and hardware-inspired jewellery popular during the period.
The miniature padlocks are particularly charming, with softly rounded rectangular bodies and raised curved shackles. Despite their small scale, the earrings have plenty of presence and would look wonderful worn alone or incorporated into a layered, maximalist jewellery look.
There appears to be a very small stamped mark to the inside of one hoop. This is difficult to decipher and has therefore not been attributed to a maker or metal standard. The earrings are being sold as gold-tone costume jewellery.
