A wonderful vintage gentleman’s formal evening dress set comprising a traditional white Marcella waistcoat together with a matching white Marcella bow tie.
Made in the distinctive textured cotton piqué traditionally associated with formal white-tie evening dress, the waistcoat features a beautifully low-cut front, long lapels, three pearl-effect buttons and traditional backless construction.
The matching bow tie is made from the same textured white Marcella-style fabric and makes this an increasingly difficult-to-find complete vintage formalwear combination.
The waistcoat retains its adjustable straps and metal fittings, although the rear/neck strap arrangement has suffered considerable age-related damage and will require restoration before the waistcoat can be worn normally.
A lovely project for a collector or restorer of vintage gentleman’s evening dress, and equally useful for theatrical, film or period costume.

The waistcoat has adjustable back/neck fittings, although these currently require restoration.

Fair vintage condition / restoration required.
The visible Marcella front of the waistcoat presents reasonably well for its age, with general age-related marks and wear.
There is significant damage to the rear/neck straps, including tearing, fraying, fabric loss and staining, all clearly shown in the photographs. These straps will require repair or replacement before regular wear.
The matching bow tie presents well overall with age-related wear.
